Tyre's Girls-Phoenix: Rook 2
Chapter 16
Phoenix had truly enjoyed her time in Boston. She again had chosen to stay in the Back Bay area where she felt most comfortable. She knew that there were other parts of the city, but she and Tyre had previously stayed at The Colonnade. During another visit, they had stayed at the luxurious Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf. This trip was strictly for her personal renewal and refreshment, so she felt more at ease in walking some of the paths that were familiar to her. Speaking of walking, she remembered to pack a pair of her good walking shoes because Boston is also known as a “walking town.” The bus ride in from Amherst had been quiet, calm and reflective. There were only a few of them on the bus so she felt as if she was almost being privately chauffeured as they cruised into the big city of Boston. Certainly, it felt like the big city after being tucked away in a small college town for too long.
She had packed plenty of snacks and brought plenty of paper on which to journal and a couple of books to read. She had her ear buds when she wanted music, and she simply knew that she had everything she needed. Phoenix had time to reflect on her marriage and the progress of their only biological child. She and Tyre were the rooks on the ends of the chess board as they held up a fortress to protect and steer their precious cargo in the right direction. She had lost two children and the heavens had only given her this one little angel, so they truly wanted to get it right.
