Chapter 14 -Excerpt

Leah and Rachel walked together, and Rachel compared her campus to this one. They were still in session, and they obviously had different spring break schedules. She thought, “Just another day in the world of academia as she saw some in a hurry, some sitting, some walking along lazily and all the things that she was accustomed to seeing at home. Of course, the California weather played a part in that it added to the carefree atmosphere while students roamed around coatless.

“Hey, guys!” they heard someone exclaim. Asha stood there standing tall and statuesque. She wore a large Afro hairdo and had on a long African print dress. She wore bangles galore. Rachel quietly studied her and looked her up and down,
“Don’t I get a hug, big sis?” she asked Leah. “But of course, my Nubian Princess,” teased Leah. They hugged and then Asha turned to Rachel and said, “Look at you all grown up now, Miss Rachel.” She hugged her and stood back to get a good look.
“How is life treating you, Baby Sis?” Asha asked.
“Good,” blushed Rachel. “I cannot complain.”
“Good. Good. Let’s walk over and get a bite and chat,” Asha said.
