Simmering Off- Chapter 19.

Tyre, on the other hand, made sure that he checked in with his father every two or three days. He vowed to take nothing and no one for granted in this life. Not his life, nor his wife for that matter. And certainly not his girls.

He and Phoenix grew even closer, and they were truly becoming as one unit. They understood each other and often read each other’s thoughts. They had a silent code that no one could crack because it was theirs and theirs alone. The heavens had seen to it and had both sanctified and sealed the deal for them.

The greenery had again returned to Amherst and the rolling, grassy hills were evident everywhere. Spring was only two shakes away and the nervous jitters were rising. Phoenix was feeling the pressure on her job when many went temporarily mad as those final projects, presentations and exams were driving students, staff and faculty into frenzies.

Rachel was about to finish first grade and that alone was unbelievable to her loving parents. Their baby girl was getting ready for second grade. Where had the time gone?
