Time - Chapter 10
Things were coming along. On some days, she drove around to explore her surroundings to see what was available. Fortunately for both she and Tyre, they had lived in suburbia and relished the slower movement; however, after living in the heart of Chicago, this was still an adjustment and they had to ease into it.
One day, after she had gone upon campus to meet Tyre for lunch, she heard the band. She told him that she wanted to see what was happening and he told her to go for it. He had to get back to work. She walked towards the music and saw The Minutemen Marching Band practicing maneuvers on the field. She loved it and it reminded her of her high school days when she too had been in a marching band.
She sat along with a few other spectators and watched as they listened to the band director’s orders. He and another man were standing on top of a roof with a megaphone telling the band members what they expected of them. Their perch from on high gave them a vantage point. They could see what was going right and what was going wrong. She’d read that The Minutemen performed around the country and played every year at the Macy’s Parade in NYC.
