A Pick-Me-Up-Chapter 10

Phoenix breathed out hard and opened the card. She read:
Dear Tyre and Phoenix,

David and I will be coming to Chicago to see our families next month. As you know, Leah is now three years old. She walks, talks and is quite inquisitive. David and I had a long discussion and we were wondering if you would like to keep Leah for three days. It is a difficult decision but she should start bonding with the two of you and get to know her other set of parents. We could leave her and one of you can bring her back to us in California. Her younger sister, Asha, will remain with us. We will take baby steps as we figure this out. We wanted to give you both plenty of time to think about this. Please feel free to call, text or write us.

Phoenix finished reading the letter. She looked over at Tyre and he had a look that she could not quite pinpoint.
“Wow,” he said in a low voice. “This is unbelievable.”
“Yeah,” was all that Phoenix could say.
