Inner Fears- Chapter 3

Tyre sat for a while and sincerely hoped that he would get to know her better. Recalling the disaster with his former wife, Flora, he reminded himself that there was no rush. “We have a lifetime to get to know each other if things continued in this direction,” he said in a low voice. He got up, put his iPad in his bag, and pulled out his iPod. He put on John Legend’s Take it Slow and continued for a few more laps around the track.

Tyre picked up his bag and prepared to go home. More memories flooded his mind as he headed toward his car. He remembered, “She was so agreeable, unlike former dates and encounters. There was no complaining about the food. There was neither an upturned mouth nor putting the waiter on the spot. There was no sending the food back or complaints about dirty forks.” He had seen and witnessed it all. He had survived the public embarrassment of dining with the uncouth. He let out a sigh of relief as he later entered his humble abode.

Phoenix threw on some jeans and a tee and chose to continue her reflections in the late sun. She sat outside on her condo balcony and wrote more. Old doubts and some fears began to surface. She wondered how much of her past should she reveal, if this friendship grew. She thought, “I want him to see past my outer reflection and see my soul. I do not want him to become enamored with who he thinks I am.” As she gazed out across the September horizon, she knew that she could cherish a nice mate to help her figure things out. “Nothing like talking to someone who you can trust,” she said in a low voice.
