Suburbia - Chapter 12

They exited the interstate at Vollmer Road. “I will drop you off at your mother’s and come and get you later so you can see Dad and Theresa,” he volunteered.
“Sounds like a plan,” she said. They pulled up at Septima’s place and he parked. “You coming in?” she asked.
“Of course,” he responded simply.
They went in and were warmly greeted by Phoenix’s mother. “You two are looking happy and perky. Looks like Boston suited you both.”
Phoenix and Tyre looked at each other with twinkling eyes and said at the same time, “Oh, yes.”
“Are you spending the night?” asked Septima. Phoenix looked at Tyre and he laughed and said, “I think that she will be. Otherwise, I don’t think I would be forgiven any time in the near future.”
“Good,” her mother said exuberantly.
“You know me well, my dear,” laughed Phoenix.
Phoenix went into her special room and put down her things and kissed him before he headed out to his father’s house.
