Sprucing Up! - Chapter 16

Phoenix wasn’t satisfied with her writing desk. It was old and she had bought it second-hand some years back. As her beloved author Catherine Ponder had said, “It had become a worn-out condition.
She started conducting some searches online and found a place that sold unfinished wooden furniture pieces. She loved wood and felt that she could manage the sanding, varnishing and shellacking of the new desk. It would be a great way to personalize it.

She liked the rotary top desk that she had seen at The Emerson House, but she needed more writing space or as one would say, more ‘elbow room.’ Phoenix was reminded of the picture of Hemingway writing as he stood at his special desk. It was as if he was getting on top of his thoughts in an effort to get them down just as he had seen them. So, with that thought in mind, she decided to buy a wide, open flat top desk.
Tyre walked in the room as she was browsing a furniture website. “What are you doing?” he asked. “Oh,” she hesitated because she had not heard him come into the room.
“Time for a new desk. My writing is taking off, and I need space to spread out.”
He simply nodded and said, “I see.”
