Decluttering - Chapter 24

Tyre resumed his cleaning. He not only got rid of papers and books, he released old pictures, letters and all types of excess baggage. He was glad that Phoenix had not seen some of it. It was all in the past and she was his present.

Eventually, night fell and he still felt invigorated. He took snack breaks and even took one long nap. He chose to move on to the closer. He started pulling down items that he no longer wore. He kept moving to the right and then he touched one jogging suit.

When he touched it, he froze. He picked it up and lifted it as though it had a life of its own. He carefully placed it in a plastic bag as memories flourished. It was the one he had worn as he jogged like a madman after dealing with one of Flora’s tirades. (His ex-wife)

When his energy finally waned, he stopped like a train does at its final destination. He dragged all of the discards to the front door, careful not to block the door itself. He vowed to get them out of the house the first thing in the morning. “Old karma can serve as blocks,” he said to himself.
