Tyre's Girls- Back to Routines

From: Chapter 19
On the bus back to Amherst, Phoenix leaned over and said in a low voice to Rachel, as not to disturb the other passengers. “Remember, Rachel. No one can make you happy. It is an inside job. You create your own joy and someone else may come along to add to what you have already established within your own world. Purge, delete and take constant inventories to see what stays and what goes. Or shall I add, who stays and who goes. It takes continual cleansing and as Iyanla Vanzant says, ‘You have to regularly take out the trash.”
“Who?” asked Rachel. “I know. I know. I must google it,” she said as she asked her mother to give the exact spelling of this sage’s name. They quietly rode back to their home bases. Each relished the reflection time as each made plans for the near future. Once at the house, Rachel only stayed one night and then returned to her living quarters on campus. She wanted to get organized and resettled in her own abode before classes resumed in two days later.
Phoenix felt a peace that passed all understanding and after she dropped Rachel off, she texted Tyre. She wrote, “The beans have been spilled. Now we have to let the beans or chips fall where they may.”
